Speakup for Autism
The group was started in 2012 to give a voice to autistic people. The group has a committee of 8 people who meet regularly to discuss and plan work which includes:
-
Work with the universities of Hallam, Sheffield and Manchester Met. Our experts work in co-production with researches from these universities to develop better services for autistic people.
-
They also have strong links with NAS and train other organisations, health care professionals and autistic people in how to communicate in a meaningful way with autistic people.
-
Self Advocacy projects which look at working and training professionals in communication skills and enabling them to support autistic people better.
-
Link with Healthcare professionals to plan and deliver projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of autistic people.
The group operates from a base within Speakup Self Advocacy in Rotherham and is supported by the Charity to meet its goals.
