Speakup is an Independent Self Advocacy group, a Charity and a company limited by guarantee. We started in 1988, so this year we are 20 years old!
A
board of trustees and an everyday management team run Speakup. They help to run Speakup and vote on important things to make sure that Speakup continues to manage it's money and is organised properly. The board of Trustees meet
four times a year and the management committee meet weekly. There are three people with learning disabilities on the board of Trustees and 12 people with learning disabiltiies on the management team, working in partnership with
experienced supporters.
Speakup gives a voice to people with learning disabilities and is run by and for people with learning disabilities. We prpvode employment, training and jargon free "easy read" resources. To
