The conference organised by Speakup and attended by 200 people in March 2000 raised lots of things about bullies and how to cope with being bullied. Everyone thought that more needed to be done to tell people about the needs of people with learning disabilities, and their right to be treated equally. A Mencap report found 9 out of 10 people with learning disabilities had been bullied nearly every day.
